Slow Food Oxon update - June 2006
Dear Slow Food Members,
We had another sumptuous meal on 13 June at the Chinese “Oriental Condor” in Oxford with the Chef generously giving away tips and cooking secrets. Pictures will be available on our website www.slowfood-oxon.org.uk. Many thanks to Geoffrey Whittle for organising the event and to all those who participated. Those of you who did not make it, we hope you watched the BBC2 programme about China, at the same time, giving an insight into cultural and economic changes currently undergoing in this great country.
We are on to our next event, the Terra Madre dinner hosted by Tolhurst Organic Produce and Ranger Organics on 1 July. We hope to accommodate all those who want to attend, however if numbers go over 30, we’ll try to organise a second dinner in September, so be fast and book now. Let me know if you are coming and I shall send directions in confirmation. Again it’s £15 per person, all included, with £5 going to Terra Madre.
Here is the tentative schedule for the afternoon;
4pm arrival (those who want to join the garden tour); refreshments
4:30 Organic Market Garden tour hosted by Iain Tolhurst
5:30 Cheese board & wine, introduction to Sarah Mcintire, Esselle Organic skin care products
6pm – Terra Madre 2004 documentary, dvd
6:30 – Dinner will be served.
We hope to see many of you there! Those who’ve signed up, I will follow this message with directions, if you don’t get these, it means I don’t have you on my list of bookings yet.
Last but not least, don’t forget to sign up with Sally Turnbull for our Teas & Coffees Tasting on 10 July and with Liz Wilding for our Book Club meeting on 12 July (In Praise of Slow).
